Satisfy your curiosity about clay! Come get your hands dirty in this fun and thorough introduction to throwing clay on the pottery wheel! This 6-week class* will provide hands-on instruction covering the fundamentals of wedging clay, centering, opening, pulling up and shaping your pots. Once your pots have been created you will learn how to trim and prepare your pots for the first firing, and how to decorate and glaze your ceramic work for the final firing.
All tools and materials are included in the cost of the class. Please wear casual clothes and shoes that can get dirty. Please note: short nails are recommended for this class. Long nails can be worked with but it does make things a little more difficult.
What will I learn? In this class you will learn all of the basics of throwing on the potters wheel. You will throw bowls, mugs, and plates. You will learn to trim and pull handles. Once your pieces are fired, you will learn to use dip, brush, and underglazes to create stunning effects on your ceramic pieces.
Make-ups are not offered for this class and attendance is mandatory. If you need to miss a class, you may schedule a private lesson with the instructor for $35. This class is limited to six participants. Due to the limited number of spots available for this class, refunds will not be issued for any reason.
Please note - The minimum number of participants needed to run events is 4. If we don't get 4 by the week before class, the class will be pushed back until we get the required number of students. You will be notified via text weekend before class is scheduled to start to let you know the status of the class.
*Only the first day of class is shown for scheduling purposes, because you cannot sign-up past the first day. This class will run for six consecutive weeks.
